Job Summary:

Tuvli, an Akima company, is hiring for a Staff Assistant Level II to support our DoS client located in Washington, DC.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the formulation and implementation of DOS and USG programs that are designed to foster rapid transitions to democracy in post-conflict states and assists in the development of policies and programs that support transitional governments in their moves toward an increasingly democratic society.

  • Directly support the (Region) Directors and Deputies as well as (Team Leads, etc.) within.

  • Provide training and expertise to other CSO staff on appropriate protocol, processes, and procedures.

  • Draft, coordinate, and clear new policies and procedures for more efficient paper flow and status tracking. Once cleared, ensure that new policies and procedures are disseminated to and adhered to by Bureau staff.

  • Analyze, draft, edit, and prepare a wide variety of memos, proposals, policy recommendations, official correspondence, reports, and other documents of a highly sensitive nature directed to the CSO for decision, clearance, or endorsement.

  • Keep the CSO leadership informed, at all times, of the latest developments in matters that require their immediate and urgent attention, using phone, e-mail, mail, and impromptu meetings to both receive and quickly transmit essential information.

  • Ensure responsible staff is kept apprised of action items required of and by CSO leadership.

  • Draft, edit, and compile information for newsletters, emails, and other formats from (Region) office teams for producing material for CSO leadership (FO).

  • Access areas requiring a security clearance, up to including TS/SCI.

  • Access systems – up to and including SCI - hand-carry, and/or safeguard classified materials on behalf of CSO leadership and other members of the bureau as required to execute the bureau’s mission. Provide guidance to CSO staff (drafters) and management on content, formatting, clearance process, etc., through periodic training seminars and during daily operations.

  • Facilitate internal meetings, training sessions, and discussions related to CSO administrative policy and procedures.

  • Facilitate administrative arrangements for meetings, conferences, travel, etc., applying familiarity with the responsible officials’ schedules, commitments, and areas of responsibility.

  • As required, attend meetings with CSO leadership, takes notes, and conduct required follow-up.

  • Serve as a backup for travel-related logistical arrangements for the CSO leadership.

  • Receive distinguished visitors as required.

  • Escort individuals as required per CSO Policy, security standards or direction of Task Manger, COR, or EX Director.

  • Serve as the CSO FOIA point of contact.

  • Serve as the specialist for CSO records management.

  • Serve as the point of contact for CSO SharePoint.

  • Serve as the point of contact for Congressional Notifications.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in business administration, international relations, public administration, or any related field).

  • Demonstrated advanced written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to learn and understand the views of the CSO’s leadership to enable the incumbent to perform duties such as making independent decisions and preparing correspondence for those officials.

  • Ability to learn CSO’s mission, programs, goals, objectives, and substantive issues monitored by the Front Office as they relate to the overall administrative structure and processes of the Department.

  • Knowledge of and ability to use the most current Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint, and Outlook.

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
