Job Summary
Tuvli, an Akima company, is hiring for a Sanctions Specialist to support our DoS client located in Washington, DC.
Job Responsibilities:
Support DRL/EAP in tracking initiatives and policy developments related to implementation of the Global Magnitsky sanctions program, as well as human rights-related visa ineligibilities (including under the INA, 7031(c), Presidential Proclamations, and USC 1182(e)) within the Department of State and with interagency partners and external non-governmental organization (NGO) interlocutors.
Coordinate with DRL/EAP colleagues monitoring human rights abuses across 34 country portfolios to identify potential targets, including through classified and unclassified reporting channels, media sources, and NGOs.
Develop cases – including by undertaking research (on open source and classified systems), preparing reports and analyses, and providing advice – regarding the actions of foreign government officials and others who may be involved in or responsible for the commission of human rights abuses.
Track the status and approval of nomination packages.
Maintain DRL/EAP sanction archives.
Minimum Qualifications:
2 years of work experience on analysis, governance, and human rights.
Has an active Top Secret clearance.
Department of State experience is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Familiar with a wide range of administrative and operational support to advance U.S. foreign policy goals pertaining to human rights and democracy.
Ability to solve problems and encourage consistent, solid performance.
Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
English language (written and spoken) communications skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate activities in multiple locations, act decisively in daily work, and work well in a multi-cultural team environment.
Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.
Ability to work independently to assess priorities and manage daily coordination of details with minimal supervision.
