Job Summary:
Plumber Maintenance/Licensed Plumber at NGA. For the installation, maintenance, inspection, modification, and repair of mechanical equipment, plumbing and fixtures for water, gas, fuel oil, sewage, fire sprinklers, fire hydrants, refrigeration-related plumbing systems, eyewashes and safety showers and other related duties as necessary.
Responsibilities:
Perform preventative maintenance, repair and monitoring on a variety of equipment including, water fountains, condensate systems and heat exchangers, eye washes and safety showers, water softeners, urinals, sinks and automatic faucets, and various pumps.
Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and install plumbing and related fixtures and components, including unclogging of drain and sewage line and toilets.
Install and repair piping and valves of various sizes and types including copper and brass, carbon steel/ black iron and PVC using commonly approved methods of cutting, brazing, welding and threading of pipe.
Perform inspection, repair and replacement of various types of pumps and pump parts, including couplings, seals, bearings, gages, strainers and valves.
Inspect and maintain fire systems and back flow preventers.
Work in conjunction with various crafts such as HVAC, electronics technicians and electricians to correct problems and maintain reliable service to customer Requisition material and supplies as required in performance of preventive maintenance and repairs including researching specifications. Install insulation and labeling of piping and related systems after repairs and installation. Respond to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service. Modify existing services and systems and install and maintain service to new machinery and fixtures.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Graduate.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in a facilities operations or commercial setting as a journey level plumber/fitter.
Must successfully complete a background check to include criminal and credit and obtain a government clearance.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment Drug Test.
Possess or able to obtain a Top Secret Clearance with eligibility to access Sensitive Compartmented Information.
Operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely.
Read and comprehend blueprints and plans as appropriate to the plumbing trade.
Perform general and heavy physical activities that require use of arms and legs.
Other physical demands include climbing, lifting up to 50lbs, balancing, walking, kneeling and stooping, as well as working from ladders and lifts.
Ability to work in various weather conditions as required.
Desired Qualifications:
Possesses a Top-Secret Clearance with eligibility to access Sensitive Compartmented Information.
Trade or tech school highly preferred.
