Job Responsibilities:
Provides satellite communications support to the Program Manager responsible for commercial satellite services.
Provides systems engineering and technical support for aircraft and group support communications and information programs.
Evaluates and recommends technical approaches, conducts requirements analysis, prepares draft specifications, analyzes software and hardware supportability/maintainability and defines operational and mission requirements.
Assists in drafting and reviewing Air Force SATCOM system and terminal requirements.
Independent problem solving with a variety of system engineering abilities, including knowledge and experience in requirements development, verification and testing.
Work effectively with customers and program stakeholders and have robust written and verbal communication skills.
Maintain strong programmatic and technical relationships with other military service SATCOM stakeholders.
Conduct and participate in IPTs and working groups that address the integration and certification of AF SATCOM terminals.
Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment and be able to quickly adapt to emerging requirements and changing priorities.
Advises on management and business element planning and implementation.
Conducts complex analyses to include project/program management, business analysis, financial analysis, logistics, systems functional analysis, quality management, organizational planning, scheduling, and other business, organizational, or program management disciplines.
Resolves important business questions through the use of advanced techniques and the extension or modification of standard practices.
Creates process change by integrating new processes with existing ones and communicating these changes to impacted business systems teams.
Recommends and facilitates quality improvement efforts.
Conducts research and prepares management, organizational and business analyses and forecasts.
Collects and analyzes performance data.
Conducts special studies and evaluations.
Researches, analyzes problems and determines element(s) requirements.
Assists in creating and reviewing acquisition documentation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum four (4) years of relevant DoD work experience.
Experience with wideband Satellite communication.
Bachelors Degree. In lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED with an additional 4 years of relevant work experience.
Understanding of fundamentals of satellite communications and types of satellites (Geosynchronous Earth Orbit, Low Earth Orbit and Medium Earth Orbit).
Understanding of forward/return link information rates, tail blockage, satellite interference regulations, high throughput satellite frequency reuse schemes, keyhole effect and solar conjunctions.
Knowledge of radio frequency bands including L, Ku, K, Ka and Q and V bands.
Knowledge of SATCOM network equipment including antennas, antenna controllers, RF conversion, modems, end-to-end IP networks using VLANs, VRF, VPNs, and NSA HAIPE devices.
Knowledge/awareness of mobile and satellite communication radio access network protocols.
Knowledge of U.S. Space Force (USSF) Commercial Satellite Communications Office (CSCO) and Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization (DITCO) operations.
Ability to draft test plans; conduct testing, interpret, document and present results to engineering peers, leadership and the Government customer.
Understanding of fundamentals of networks and network equipment.
Ability to read, understand, speak, and write English fluently.
Excellent writing skills.
Active TOP SECRET security clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience at Air Mobility Command or equivalent organization.
