Job Summary:
The System Administrator will be responsible for the system administration of all Nationwide Automatic Information System (NAIS) equipment supported by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, and Intelligence (C5i) directorate. Any recommendations of system upgrades, additions, or removal is dependent upon the approval of the USCG.
Job Responsibilities:
Administers, develops, runs tests, implements, and maintains operating system and related software.
Establishes and implements standards for computer operations for compatibility between hardware and software, according to specifications and parameters.
Troubleshoots and resolves software, operating system, and networking problems.
Schedules, performs, and monitors system backups and performs data recoveries.
Recommends hardware and software upgrades according to growth statistics and disk space forecasts.
Configures hardware, such as workstations, printers, servers, and tape devices.
Provides technical support for system users.
Performs work under minimal supervision.
Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
May act as lead.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have and be able to maintain an active Secret security clearance.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related degree programs, with at least five (5) years of experience as a Systems Administrator (additional experience permissible in lieu of degree).
Must have an active DoD 8570 IAT Level II, or higher, compliant certification (e.g. Security CE, CCNA-Security, etc.).
Experience working on military or government agency information systems, networks, software, and hardware, preferably U.S. Coast Guard.
Experience with current Windows Operating Systems to include Windows client and server environments.
Experienced in the installation, maintenance, and upgrading of current VMWare environments.
Working knowledge of maintaining CISCO switches and Firewalls.
Experience in identifying and eliminating information security vulnerabilities.
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of U.S. Coast Guard information systems, networks, information assurance policies, and Systems Engineering Lifecyle (SELC) policy and procedures.
Experience with NAIS and PAWSS.
