Job Summary:
Directly supports shops purchase requirement for researching parts, ordering parts and materials expeditiously and tracking parts from submission of purchase requests through full delivery of parts & materials. Assists Supervisors and Technicians with researching parts and materials to ensure correct parts and materials are purchased along with most cost effective, mission impacting procurement process.
Job Responsibilities:
Works directly with Shop Supervisor, Lead and Operations Doc Clerk to expeditiously source parts/materials required.
Contacts vendors as needed to validate parts/materials are exact specifications needed for HVAC assets being repaired, or through validation that suitable substitutions are acceptable.
Communicates with customers to identify general and specific work requirements and completes service request documentation as required.
Tracks Parts Requests using AAMS and PR Log to ensure PO’s have been issued and materials have been received as per agreed delivery dates. Follow-up with Procurement staff to resolve deficiencies when dates have changed or have not been met.
Maintains/inventories Forward Store and reviews CEMAS Store inventory to ensure high use materials are on hand.
Creates and manages bills of material as required by shop supervisor.
Notifies Supervisor, Lead and/or Technicians when materials have been received.
Keeps current on procedures, policies, instructions, technical orders, and manufacturer’s manuals. Maintains Shop tech manual library. Conducts on-the-job training.
Complies with safety standards and practices and ensures that government furnished equipment, materials, supplies and facilities are safeguarded and maintained.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalency.
Current state driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in purchasing and receiving of mechanical system parts/materials.
Must have working knowledge of mechanical systems parts/materials (primarily Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
Ability to solve problems and work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional and courteous manner in diversified situations.
Demonstrated skills in using various computer software, including ability to use the Windows operating system as well as common office software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat and Database Management.
Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary ID/License/Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
An Associates of Science or Applied Science from a vocational/trade school, accredited college or university in related field.
Mechanical Journeyman’s License.
Previous experience working on and Air Force Installation within the Civil Engineer Operations, Flight, or Squadron.
Military experience.
Previous experience using Next Generation Information Technology (NGIT) or USAF Work Information Management System (IWIMS).
Previous experience working within the Federal Government Base Operations and Support Services Arena.
Familiarity with military-specific facility/infrastructure codes and standards, as applicable.
Physical Demands:
While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk for long periods at a time, sit, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee must be able to hear and speak.
Work is performed indoors and outdoors.
Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions.
The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Lifts exceeding 50 pounds will be accomplished with two-man teams and using appropriate safety equipment to efficiently accomplish the task.
The employee is occasionally required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings weekends and/or holidays.
This position may currently and/or in the future be required to obtain and retain a favorable National Agency Check (NAC) and/or Personal Clearance (PCL) as required by law or contract. Position requires pre-employment drug screening.
