Job Summary:
Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking candidates to support personnel as part of our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance customer's core mission. Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction and assignments from customer staff and procedures. Pay, benefits, Human Resources, and Employment Management functions are provided by AIS.
Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.
Job Responsibilities:
Maintains contact with client representative, suppliers, and field personnel as delegated.
Estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work to meet schedule dates.
Requires a broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to the particular discipline.
Is responsible for activities on a major project in an engineering or scientific discipline.
Supervises and provides technical direction to subordinate technical support specialists, engineers, scientists, designers, and drafters.
Leads other technical staff, technologists, and designers/drafters in design work within assigned discipline.
Supports engineering/projects department in the performance of complex and demanding assignments requiring initiative and independent judgment.
Directs the work of assigned personnel, meeting cost and time schedules.
Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of engineering/scientific work usually in one discipline in a project or staff group.
Performs work that involves conventional engineering/scientific practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and/or difficult coordination requirements.
Plans, coordinates, and prepares equipment or work specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations for equipment.
Coordinates engineering/scientific efforts in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the client, suppliers, and contractors and between other divisional groups.
When delegated, assumes a lead role over other staff or project subgroups for completing specific tasks.
Assists in on-the-job training of assigned personnel and provides input for their performance evaluations.
Prepares letters to vendors and clients.
Reviews bid analyses and makes recommendations.
Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, and proposals.
Performs or assists in the performance of problem analysis and original design.
Reviews project controls cost estimates.
Minimum Qualifications:
Level 5:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or mathematics and specialized courses in a technical field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.
Experience: 10 years’ experience
Level 6:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or mathematics and specialized courses in a technical field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.
Experience: 12 years’ experience
Level 7:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or mathematics and specialized courses in a technical field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.
Experience: 15 years’ experience. Must have considerable mathematical, computer, and code or design experience.
