Job Summary:
Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking candidates to support personnel as part of our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance customer's core mission. Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction and assignments from customer staff and procedures. Pay, benefits, Human Resources, and Employment Management functions are provided by AIS.
Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.
Job Responsibilities:
Under limited management direction, will develop, implement, and maintain safety and health programs, systems and procedures on the company or project level.
Responsible for highly complex technical work in a wide range of health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements.
Utilizes advanced techniques and diversified knowledge to complete assignments.
Uses independent judgment and discretion in data analysis and problem resolution.
Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
Develops reports and recommends corrective action.
Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
Work includes technical responsibility for a major phase or component of a project.
May act in a lead role for a team of ES&H specialists and/or support personnel.
Minimum Qualifications:
Level 1:
Education: Associates degree preferred and/or a safety and health related certification(s) such as CHST.
Experience: 4 years of relevant experience in health and safety
Level 2:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Safety, Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or other related degree required, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience: Entry-level position, some relevant internship experience preferred
Level 3:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Safety, Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or other related degree required, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience: 2 years of experience required. Relevant professional certification(s) preferred (i.e. ASP, GSP, OHST and/or CHST).
Level 4:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Safety, Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or other related degree required, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience: 4 years of experience. Relevant professional certification(s) preferred (i.e., ASP, GSP, CIH, CSP, CHP, OHST, and/or CHST), or must have the ability to obtain professional certification.
Level 5:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Safety, Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or other related degree required, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience: 7 years of experience. Relevant professional certification(s) preferred (i.e., ASP, GSP, CIH, CSP, CHP, OHST, and/or CHST), or must have the ability to obtain professional certification.
Level 6:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Safety, Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or other related degree required, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience: 10 years of experience. Relevant professional certification(s) required (i.e., ASP, GSP, CIH, CSP, CHP, OHST, CHST, and/or SMS).
Level 7:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Safety, Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or other related degree required, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience: 12 years of experience. Relevant professional certification(s) required (i.e., ASP, GSP, CIH, CSP, CHP, OHST, CHST, and/or SMS).
