Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking candidates to support personnel as part of our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Job Responsibilities:

  • Works under minimal supervision.

  • Performs system-wide/cross-functional team management.

  • May provides direction for projects and team members.

  • May serve as the technical lead for team members in group or business support.

  • Acts as a mentor to less senior IT staff.

  • Plans and manages implementation, upgrade, and integration of new technologies.

  • Viewed as a subject matter expert within the organization.

  • May lead or supervise team members responsible for a specialized area of information systems, including application support, software engineering, software quality, business analysis or database administration.

  • May facilitate career development and personnel management within a discipline.

  • Analyzes user requirements and evaluates work processes.

  • Provides technical direction, development, training and mentoring to subordinate team members.

  • Arranges, prepares and conducts meetings, workshops and presentations as required.

  • Assists with executing the project technical automation plan and evaluates and coordinates the implementation of new automation modules and tools.

  • Tests and supports data integration of new releases of production software/programs.

  • Customizes applications as required by customer.

  • Prepares user guides and training material and delivers training.

  • Oversees investigative work to seek effective business solutions and applies and monitors the use of required modeling and analysis tools, methods, and standards.

  • Cooperates with senior client and IS&T staff as required, conducting high level investigations for strategy studies, requirements specifications and feasibility studies.

  • Organizes implementation through improvements in information systems, data management, processes and procedures, organization, and equipment.

  • Advises on alternatives and assesses technical limitations with operations realities.

  • Installs, configures, and upgrades database/application software and tools in support of operational systems and the development environment.

  • Installs, upgrades, and migrates databases and performs database/application refreshes; maintains database security.

  • Executes database performance tuning of development, test and production environments; performs backup and recovery.

  • Escalates, coordinates, and resolves high visibility operations issues.

  • Participates in application design.

  • Analyzes, maintains, and implements (including performance maintenance and timing) existing software applications in accordance with the Software Development Methodology Framework (SDMF), enterprise and application architecture, and the Software Development Standards.

  • Develops programming specifications from business requirements in consultation with end users.

  • Creates design specifications, test plan and automated test scripts for individual work scope.

  • Meets budgets and schedules for entire software lifecycle.

  • Develops project software quality assurance and quality control work plans and develops test strategy, test procedures and test plans.

  • Reviews software development and documentation for compliance with SDMF.

  • Establishes project requirements for manual and automated testing.

  • Leads project Change Control Board activities.

  • Evaluates and recommends new automated testing software, client/server software and test lab hardware to support infrastructure testing.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or other relevant discipline and 15 years of experience in IT.

or

  • Associate degree or technical diploma/degree in Information Technology and 19 years of relevant experience in IT.

or

  • 23 years of Enterprise level IT experience in an administration, support and/or oversight capacity.
