Job Summary
Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking candidates to support personnel as part of our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance customer's core mission. Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction and assignments from customer staff and procedures. Pay, benefits, Human Resources, and Employment Management functions are provided by AIS.
Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.
Job Responsibilities:
Assists the ES&H Director in the formulation and administration of the company's environmental safety and health policies and programs for the home office and field operations.
Assists in the supervision of all ES&H activities and in the selection of related facilities/project personnel.
Assists in the planning and conducting of training for project personnel and is responsible for ES&H in the areas of policy, procedures, inspection, regulatory compliance and incident investigation.
May represent the Company on technical and professional committees and assists in local, State, Federal and industrial standards, codes, or regulatory formation.
Consults with management on the need for ES&H training programs for manual/non-manual employees. Approves the development and implementation of these programs. Conducts ES&H training courses for supervisors and project managers.
Participates in personnel planning and development. Prepares an annual salary plan. Conducts performance evaluations and career counseling sessions and reviews performance evaluations administered by supervisors.
Recommends transfers/reassignments and selects new employees to meet staffing requirements.
Represents the ES&H department in business development meetings with potential clients. Develops and presents an overall plan for the staffing and operation of the function for the proposed projects or facilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Level 8:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in ES&H discipline, Engineering, Science, or related field from an accredited university or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: Management level position with 12 years of professional, related experience with proven supervisory/ administrative skills. This position requires certification in CIH, CSP, CMIOSH, CHMM, SMS, PE, or CHP
Level 9:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in ES&H discipline, Engineering, Science, or related field from an accredited university or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master’s degree is highly desired.
Experience: 15 years of related experience in safety and health, including at three years of supervisory/management experience. This position requires certification(s) by national accredited organizations, including the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (CSP) and/or the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (CIH) and/or the American Board of Health Physics (CHP).
