Job Summary:
Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking candidates to support personnel as part of our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance customer's core mission Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction and assignments from customer staff and procedures. Pay, benefits, Human Resources, and Employment Management functions are provided by AIS.
Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.
Job Responsibilities:
Receives technical guidance from supervisory level scientists, engineers or engineering managers on unusual or complex problems. Independently contacts subcontractor representatives and project field personnel to gather or give information.
Independently plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of scientific work, usually in one discipline.
in a global business unit, in a project or staff group which requires the application and substantial adaptation of scientific techniques.
Devises new approaches to complex technical problems that include resolving conflicting design requirements, the unsuitability of conventional materials and/or difficult coordination requirements.
Plans, coordinates, or prepares equipment or work specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations for equipment or programs.
Coordinates scientific efforts in assigned areas between specialty and other scientific groups or disciplines, the client, suppliers, and contractors.
Provides technical direction and assigns work to subordinate scientists and others who assist on specific assignments. Reviews and checks work.
Prepares letters to vendors and clients.
Conducts bid analyses and makes recommendations.
Prepares or assists in the preparation of studies, designs, reports or proposals.
Assists in the preparation of and reviews project procedures and cost estimates, for proposals, forecasts and change orders.

Minimum Qualifications:
Level 5:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture or science or equivalent education, specific training, or experience in area of expertise, as approved by the pertinent Discipline Chief.
Experience: 7 years discipline experience in the area of expertise
Level 6:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture or science or equivalent education, specific training, or experience in area of expertise, as approved by the pertinent Discipline Chief.
Experience: 10 years discipline experience in the area of expertise
Level 7:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture or science or equivalent education, specific training, or experience in area of expertise, as approved by the pertinent Discipline Chief.
Experience: 12 years discipline experience in the area of expertise
Level 8:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture or science or equivalent education, specific training, or experience in area of expertise, as approved by the pertinent Discipline Chief.
Experience: 15 years discipline experience in area of expertise.
Level 9:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture or science or equivalent education, specific training, or experience in area of expertise, as approved by the pertinent Discipline Chief.
Experience: 17 years discipline experience in area of expertise.
