Job Summary:
Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking candidates to support personnel as part of our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance customer's core mission. Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction and assignments from customer staff and procedures. Pay, benefits, Human Resources, and Employment Management functions are provided by AIS.
Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.
Job Responsibilities:
Serve as the expert and primary point of contact for advice, resources, education, and coordination of export control compliance. This includes regular technology and research project screening activities, as well as education and outreach about classification, CUI, and related topics. The Classification and Information Control Officer will conduct regular small group sessions and facilitate seminars as appropriate.
Identify needs for enhancement to Classification and Information Control Program (CICP) to strengthen performance at all operating levels and determine how to best utilize available resources to meet those needs.
Prepare and deliver ongoing training for staff and management. Offer ad hoc training session for any group or individual who requests training regarding all elements of the CICP.
Assist with internal and external assessments of the CICP, including risk assessments and DOE Office of Classification compliance audits.
Provide leadership and interact with peer groups, (e.g., Office of Classification, DOE Office of Scientific and Technical Information, Export Control Coordinators Organization).
Benchmarks other similar DOE organizations to ensure application of applicable best business practices.
Performs self-assessments on an annual basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (Security Management, Criminal Justice, Engineering, or information-related major preferred) and 15 years of related experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
With Associates degree, 19 years of related experience is required, or
With High School Diploma, 23 years of related experience is required.
At least ten years of experience directly involving leadership such as supervisor, manager, or lead role.
Total mastery of classification and CUI issues such as export control rules and regulations.
Active DOE Q clearance.
Demonstrated ability using professional concepts and objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
Excellent analytical skills to handle complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of variable and technical factors.
Ability to determine methods and procedures on new assignments and provide guidance to other personnel as necessary.
Direct experience and leadership with relevant outside peer groups.
Must have practical experience and be proficient in software applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and MS Outlook.
Strong verbal communication and written skills.
