Overview

Job Summary:

RiverTech, LLC. provides technical and administrative support services for the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) National Maritime Center (NMC) Mariner Credentialing Program (MCP) located in Martinsburg, WV. We provide a full range of technical and administrative services to meet the mission needs of the NMC. The mission of the USCG NMC is to issue Merchant Mariner credentials to fully qualified Mariners. The USCG processes approximately 96,000 mariner applications annually. The applications consist of requests for credentials, medical certificates, or both. The overall program, referred to as the Mariner Credentialing Program (MCP), involves receiving applications and supporting documentation from applicants, evaluating the applications against documented standards, and issuing appropriate credentials and medical certificates or denying an application. This position is primarily responsible for processing mariner applications for credentials and routing amplifying information (AI) to the appropriate individual(s) at the National Maritime Center.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Receives applications and AI that may have been submitted to the Application In-Processing (AIP) Division of the NMC. (Applications and additional information can be received via fax, mail, and email).

  • If an application is received via fax or email, the Clerk shall create an electronic application and update mariner demographic information when necessary.

  • Documents information in Merchant Mariner Licensing and Documentation (MMLD) database.

  • Assign files for general screening and evaluation.

  • Prepares paper files and/or digital files for the screening and/or evaluation process using various electronic tools, including databases, spreadsheets, MMLD, and other standard business software.

  • Tracks applications electronically using MMLD.

  • Makes appropriate entries and assigns files to screeners, evaluators, and supervisors as required by the Government.

  • Clerks shall be prepared to work 300 pieces of AI per business day.

  • Performs other administrative services required as part of the efforts described above (such as filing paper records, converting paper files to digital, communicating with others, sending official correspondence, filing and other office administrative actions).

  • Works cohesively in a Team environment to accomplish Team and Organizational goals.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to pass a thorough background check to include credit in order to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as an administrative assistant, virtual assistant or office admin type work.

  • Must have experience using Microsoft Office and Adobe Products.

  • Must have experience using office equipment, like printers and fax machine.

  • Must have a minimum of a High School degree.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prefer experience using Adobe Acrobat Pro Products.
