Job Summary:
Apply project management skill and principles in support of Western Area Power Administration’s (WAPA) Rocky Mountain Regional office metering program. Works closely with Field Maintenance personnel in the field, WAPA’s operations Engineering/Balancing Authority and Power Marketing teams. The performance location for the services requested can be either Phoenix, AZ or Loveland, CO.
Job Responsibilities:
Monthly status reports for all assigned projects that impact changes to the responsible Balancing Authorities (WACM and WALC).
Timely notification of change in project status to Power Operations, Power Marketing, Transmission Services and Maintenance divisions VP’s.
Project execution within planned and approved budget.
Project execution within planned and approved schedule, where applicable.
Experience in various project management tools such as the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK).
Experience with providing technical writings, documentation supporting project management.
Experience with bulk electric system principles, particularly those around large/small generator interconnects and transmission interconnections, basic system and metering drawing review, technical interpretations from SME to customer.
Experience in Federal budgeting and accounting practices.
Experience in Federal procurement practices.
Required following WAPA’s project management order and manual.
Providing support for the development of WAPA policies and procedures, working with federal guidance to document requirements.
Providing technical writings/documentation supporting Project Management, reviewing power and transmission contracts, coordinating amongst Power Marketing, Power Operations, Transmission Services and Maintenance division organizations.
Providing documentation (electronic and hard copy) in support of projects and operations which consist of and use both COTS hardware/software and government developed software.
Performing updates and indexing of documents related to metering projects.
Providing project management support, coordinating project planning and activities; and creating documents such as weekly, monthly status reports, and project summaries.
Providing support activities during audits, including providing documentation and responding to questions and requests.
Providing support for procurement actions, DOE reporting, and human resource activities.
Creating, maintaining, and providing technical training as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a Certification in Project Management.
Must have a minimum of 10 years in utilizing project management tools.
Must have experience in providing technical writings in support of project management.
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of WAPA Power Operations is preferred, not required.
Experience in financial management or accounting practices is a plus!
