Job Summary:
The Corporate Project Controls Director is responsible for all Project Controls activities for the Facilities Services Group in Akima. This individual will have managerial oversight of approximately 30 Project Control managers and analysts, and will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all aspects of Project Control. The successful candidate will regularly interface with Group President, Operations VP, and Group Finance Director. This individual will report directly to the VP of Project Controls.
This is a highly visible, fast paced, high volume role, in which the selected individual will at times be required to be hands on in executing work under tight deadlines, as well as hold team members accountable for quality, compliance and delivery of time - sensitive work products. This person must be experienced in training, mentoring and developing staff and managing distribution of workload, to include managing timelines, deliverables and special projects. This is a working management, hands-on role requiring the person to perform any and all aspects of project controls work to be sure the team meets internal and external SLAs.
This position is primarily based in the Herndon HQ office, with the ability to work from home on Fridays!
Job Responsibilities:
Provide oversight, training and mentoring to the operating company Project Management and Project Controllers
Recruit, hire and mentor experienced project control support where needed.
Participate in program reviews, month end close reviews, and EAC reviews.
Provide support for new project transitions/phase-ins as needed.
Assist in corporate level certifications and processes.
Enhance Estimate at Complete tools and support Earned Value analysis.
Assist with proposal reviews.
Communicate with the Project Management and Controls communities via Project Controller forums, intranet postings and conduct classroom training sessions.
Assist with project planning/scheduling/baseline development, cost/variance analysis, project setup, and project reporting,
Minimum Qualification:
Finance, Accounting or Engineering discipline preferred.
MBA or CPA a plus.
Minimum years of experience: 15 years of Project Controls experience working for a Federal Government Contractor. Masters degree in relevant field will be accepted in lieu of two years of experience.
Specific Experience:
Solid understanding of all contract types, FAR regulations, government compliance.
Costpoint project setup, reporting and invoicing.
Process improvement.
Revenue recognition rules and regulations.
EAC development / EAC reviews.
Cost and schedule variance analysis.
Unbilled analysis.
Project Management experience with new tool or process roll outs, new project awards.
Supervisory / Management experience, training and mentoring large geographically dispersed team of professionals.
Specific equipment and applications experience required: Proficiency with Costpoint and Costpoint reporting tools, Microsoft Excel.
Must have solid personnel management experience/skills, communication skills and must be comfortable presenting to Senior Leadership, audiences of up to 100 participants and teaching courses in a classroom setting.
