Job Summary:
Individuals serving as flight instructors (Shadow RQ-7B) are required to provide flight and simulation instruction in support of the US Army’s UAS Training Battalion located at Ft Huachuca, AZ.
Job Responsibilities:
Develops; tests; maintains; and delivers moderately complex flight and simulations training programs; typically 90% of daily effort.
Establishes and reviews course content as required.
Maintains records of training activities; participant progress; and flight information.
Updates course documentation on a regular basis to ensure timeliness and relevance, as required.
May provide leadership and evaluation for other instructors, as assigned.
Stays current with new training; educational; and multimedia technologies.
Maintains current knowledge (currency) of all equipment and software utilized by our customer to provide training.
Participates in special projects within the scope of the Performance Work Statement (PWS), on a limited and/or rotational basis.
May be required to operate/instruct any of the customer's UAS platforms, based on customer’s training throughput (surge).
Must be able to work all shifts and/or modified split shifts.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have at least four years’ operational flying (post initial qualification) experience within the last five years.
Must have at least 200 hours on the Shadow 200 V2 UAS, 20 hours of which, must be as an Aircraft Commander (AC) in Shadow.
Must have System qualification/ verification:
Army Qualification Certificates, DD214, DA 7122.
Or OEM and DCMA for OEM qualified. For OEM: DCMA (1821, 2628 stating qualifications).
For contractors who have both Army and civilian qualifications, Mil forms and DCMA stating qualifications is preferred.
Must have been AC designated/verified via DD form 759, or DCMA/OEM.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a flight physical per AR 95-20.
Must be able to satisfactorily complete all evaluations per AR 95-20 to include:
TRADOC instructor evaluations.
Oral academic evaluations.
No-notice evaluations.
Directorate of Evaluation and Standardization (DES) evaluations.
Proficiency Flight evaluations (PFEs).
Standardization Flight Evaluations (SFE).
Strong interpersonal, coaching and team building skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with the U.S. Army Aviation or other Government contracting agencies.
Must be able to ascend and descend stairs; stand for an extended period of time up to at least 50 minutes and walk at least 100 meters across uneven or unpaved surfaces.
Must be a US Citizen 12) Rotational shift work is required; typically 24/5 coverage, with rotations and shift hours based on work section requirements.
Education Requirements:
- High School Graduate, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, or work/military experience.
Special Requirements:
Must obtain a Class II Flight Physical prior to employment and be able to maintain a Class II flight physical per AR 95-20.
Must be able to satisfactorily complete all evaluations to include TRADOC instructor evaluations per 2/13th Aviation Regiment SOPs, and oral academic evaluations, no-notice evaluations, DES, PFEs, and SFE per AR 95-20.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance if required.
Travel up to 10% required possible.
Desired Qualifications:
Recency of flight: 12 hours as AC within the last 12 months.
Instructor/Operator (IO) designation, earned at either Ft. Huachuca or certified by Army Aviation’s Directorate of Evaluation and Standardization (DES).
Prior TRADOC experience; Instructor/Operator hours in training environment preferred; multi-platform quals preferred.
Prior deployment and operation of the platform applying to instruct.
Familiarity with ISO- certified Quality Management System.
Current active US Secret Clearance.
