Appliance Mechanic

Job Summary:

Akima Support Operations is seeking a Appliance Mechanic to support Eagle LSS Contract in Fort Hood, TX

Job Responsibilities:

• The Appliance Mechanic installs, services and repairs stoves, refrigerators, dishwashing machines, and other electrical household or commercial appliances, using hand tools, test equipment and following wiring diagrams and manufacturer's specifications.

• Connects appliance to power source and test meters, such as wattmeter, ammeter, or voltmeter, observes readings on meters and graphic recorders, examines appliance during operating cycle to detect excess vibration, overheating, fluid leaks and loose parts, and disassembles appliances and examines mechanical and electrical parts.

• Traces electrical circuits, following diagram and locates shorts and grounds, using ohmmeter, calibrates timers, thermostats and adjusts contact points, and cleans and washes parts, using wire brush, buffer, and solvent to remove carbon, grease and dust.

• Replaces worn or defective parts, such as switches, pumps, bearings, transmissions, belts, gears, blowers and defective wiring, repairs and adjusts appliance motors, reassembles appliance, adjusts pulleys and lubricates moving parts, using hand tools and lubricating equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must have 6 years of experience in appliance repair

• Experienced user with Microsoft Office Suite

• Ability to receive a favorable TIER-1 investigation and able to obtain a CAC

• Must be able to bring and use own tools

• High School Diploma / GED

Desired Qualifications:

• CFESA Certification

• GCSS-A Production Control Experience

• Valid Driver’s License

Physical Demands:

• Ability to work in cold, hot, damp or wet environments based on location of appliance equipment.

• Must have the ability to lift and carry 60 pounds. Must be able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, and kneel to perform job tasks.

• May perform other tasks as assigned.

Pay and Benefit:

• Hourly Compensation: $20.72
