Job Summary:

Supervises other lower-level, custodial workers, floor technicians & Lead Workers related to completion of custodial operations. Serves as the main custodial representative in the coordination and performance of routine cleaning, special cleaning projects and work order completion. Insure that daily cleaning duties are performed in accordance with standard procedures of the custodial department and with client objectives. Must be computer literate using a computer based timekeeping system to input employees daily time. Keep inventory records of all supplies used on a daiy basis and report usage to Project Monthly for ordering.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and coordinates activities of unskilled and service employees engaged in cleaning and maintaining facilities and equipment of Government buildings.

  • Oversees those who may sweep and mop or scrub hallways and stairs, empty trash and garbage containers, clean bathrooms and replace supplies, leads and directs the work of other employees.

  • Ensures that service delivery is consistent with quality of standards within our organization and client.

  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, executes and manages operational and technical functions for janitorial services on the day shift, and insure work is executed in accordance with contract specifications.

  • Meets and communicates with client(s) regularly to ensure satisfaction, identify opportunities, and provide status updates on routine operations and work orders.

  • Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate custodial employees.

  • Evaluates and verifies subordinate’s performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques.

  • Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained.

  • Makes rounds to check for crew coverage of designated work areas, assigns needed coverage, gives special cleaning instructions and/or assignments, and ascertains compliance with directives.

  • Maintain customer satisfaction through building audits and quality assurance inspections

  • Attend and participate in customer meetings and activities as necessary that directly and indirectly impact the schedule and performance of cleaning.

  • Attend weekly operational meetings and convey pertaining information to Custodial Staff.

  • Report any broken equipment or building damaged to manager

  • Ensure that all time sheets and/or logs are accurate and processed with the proper information

  • Ensure compliance with client policies & procedures, approved cleaning tools and equipment and their proper use.

  • Coordinate Monthly physical inventory of warehouse and report results to Project Manager & Assistant Project Manager.

  • Continually analyze the results of operations and take immediate corrective action when performance deviates from standard

  • Come to work on time, to set an example to all subordinates


Minimum Qualification:

  • Minimum 6 years demonstrated detailed experience in custodial operations, multi-discipline floor maintenance, custodial operations, and procedures.

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Must be computer literate, ability to use the internet, use of other operating systems for time keeping, employee tracking and inspection.

  • Knowledge of inventory control principles and methods.

  • Advanced skill in the application of custodial materials and chemicals; in the operation of floor care equipment; General techniques used in custodial operations.

  • Ability to read, write and speak and understand English.

  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.

  • Ability to supervise the work of others.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, reach, and bend for long periods of time.

  • Ability to work multiple shifts 6:00am-3:30pm and weekends
