Overview

Job Summary:

The Cargo Supervisor oversees and directs all activities related to customer cargo and warehouse operations. This role demands a deep understanding of freight acceptance, data entry, screening, bonding, and storage procedures. Responsibilities include verifying shipments against receiving documents, data entry, processing security forms and air bills, labeling, manifesting, and transporting cargo to aircraft in compliance with TSA Cargo Security requirements. The Cargo Supervisor serves as the primary point of contact for resolving customer service issues. This position operates under the guidance of the Director of Cargo and Passenger Services, following established procedures.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily cargo handling operations.

  • Ensure customer performance metrics are met or exceeded according to company policy, regulations, and customer expectations.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date cargo-related documentation, including forms, manuals, records, and invoices.

  • Develop and manage cargo agent schedules to ensure flight coverage.

  • Interact with TSA Security Inspectors as needed.

  • Monitor training records for completion.

  • Coordinate and oversee training for new personnel, including freight acceptance procedures and ETD/physical search training.

  • Ensure accurate data entry for all shipments in the customer’s system before flight cut-off times.

  • Notify consignees, passengers, or customers of freight arrival and arrange delivery.

  • Advise clients on transportation and payment methods.

  • Prepare manifests showing mail, freight weights, and transmit data to destinations.

  • Proficient in hazardous material handling and shipping requirements.

  • Check import/export documentation to classify goods into different fee and tariff groups.

  • Retrieve stored items and trace lost shipments as necessary.

  • Manage files and records for each airline or customer.

  • Understand and follow U.S. Mail procedures for pickup and delivery.

  • Reconcile monthly billing for each cargo customer timely.

  • Understand and process international air bills by customer and client.

  • Promote a safe and efficient work environment for employees and customers.

  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Director.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

  • Minimum of 5 years of international cargo logistics management experience.

  • Prior supervisory experience.

  • High School diploma or GED.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • At least 18 years of age.

  • Knowledge of customer service principles and processes.

  • Effective communication skills to ensure proper cargo handling.

  • Time management skills for self and others.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • US. citizenship or proof of right to work in the U.S.

  • Ability to work under stress and tight time constraints.

  • In-depth knowledge of TSA screening rules, regulations, and paperwork requirements.

  • Proficiency in customer processing platforms, including iCargo and UC360.

  • DG acceptance certification.

  • Knowledge of AOSSP and ACSIP.

  • Experience with AMS and ACE systems and entries.

  • Forklift certification or experience.

  • Customer and team-oriented attitude.

  • Friendly and outgoing personality.

  • Previous experience in airline cargo acceptance, physical search, and ETD.

  • Self-motivated team player.

  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, varying schedules, and occasionally extended hours.

  • Successful completion of a background investigation, including FBI fingerprints, criminal history, and pre-employment drug test.

Physical Demands:

  • Occasionally lift or move with assistance up to 200 pounds, frequently lift or move 70 to 100 pounds, and constantly lift or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Regularly required to use hands, talk, hear, bend, stoop, kneel, and frequently stand, walk. May be required to climb, sit, and balance.

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

  • Work primarily outdoors, exposed to various weather conditions, including rain, snow, wind, and extreme temperatures.

  • Moderate noise levels, occasionally high noise levels requiring hearing protection.
