Job Summary:
The Security, Surveillance & Access Control Engineer is responsible for handling daily assignments and tasks associated with system designing, estimating and proposal writing for new opportunities. This will involve communications with sales personal, customers and engineering management. The Security, Surveillance & Access Control Engineer needs excellent planning and communication skill sets to ensure that daily assignments in addition to new and ongoing opportunities for contracted work requirements are being completed in a timely manner. Daily challenges include, performing new customer and existing customer site visits, reviewing of drawings and plans. Developing system designs. Developing estimates and writing proposals. Performing onsite inspections and troubleshooting services.
Job Responsibilities:
The evolution, development and completion of a concept design through to a delivered and installed working system.
Customer site inspections to gather and collect data for development of design solutions.
Produce design outputs, such as specifications, schematics, parts lists (BOMs) wiring details, and equipment layouts.
System Design can equally include any of the following:
Design of a brand-new system.
An upgrade-extension to an existing system.
The taking over and upgrade (etc.) of a 3rd party’s system.
Design and where appropriate or required perform test to ensure the meeting of any safety and regulatory requirements specific to the project/application and its location.
Develop cost estimates based on newly created system designs or systems created by others for bid purposes.
Craft detailed customer proposals containing project scope of work outlining process, procedures and products utilized in system designs.
Provide onsite technical support to field technicians.
Perform customer site equipment inspections along with troubleshooting services.
Minimum of 50% Travel.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of both analogue and digital CCTV Systems, understanding of video compression, MPEG, H264 etc.
Knowledge of Access Control Systems, Card reader types. Lock types and door configurations.
Knowledge of IP networks and their component parts, Routing, Switching, Bandwidth.
Knowledge of PC's, Clients & Servers and Storage. Knowledge of or experience in using Microsoft Operating Systems.
Knowledge of electronics, electrical design, heat, power, interference, connectivity. This may come from RF Systems, Communications Systems, Control Systems etc.

10 years experience in engineering/designing, installing, programming, training in Electronic Security, Surveillance and Access Control Systems.
Comprehensive knowledge of low current systems including Access Control, CCTV, Fire Alarm, Intercom, Gate barriers, Intruder Alarm, Network configuration etc.
Experience in the system design and implementation of security solutions and techniques.
Strong oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness and ability to work flexibly and diligently as needed to support company and customer needs.
Ability to handle and shift support focus across multiple assignments.
High level of self motivation and an ability to work with a high level of initiative.
Motivated self-starter with the ability to accept responsibility for projects and see them through to completion.
Strong team player who can communicate effectively.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and work effectively in high pressure situations.
Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computing, Systems Engineering or similar.
Proven experience with designing, installation and troubleshooting of Security, Surveillance and Access Control Systems.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint. AutoCad and Visio.
